1st Day of Puppy School

"Help me break outta here!"
Today was the first day of puppy school for Brando and Bogart.  Bogart slept through the whole class.  Brando was awake, alert, and very unhappy.  He refused to take treats.  He was mad, and just wanted to break out of the class.  That aside, he's doing very well with his training.  We've been working with him at home.  He can sit, stay (we walk away 6 feet before we release him), beg, down, and shake.  Brando needs work on his shyness.  His trainer said, "Don't worry, he's going to make Good Citizen.  He's doing great."  Brando is in stage 2 puppy class, and he may well be able to skip adult class.  The shyness holds him back.  He was showing progress at the end of class.  Brando was most improved student for the day.  He happily trotted around on loose leash for the very first time.

  1. Puppy class is so fun! It's great socialization if handled correctly. be careful Brando doesn't get too overwhelmed. Puppy class was where many of Maizey's fear issues got cemented. I simply didn't know how to protect her enough, even from well meaning people who thought she just needed a little "nudge" past her shyness. I always err on the side of caution when it comes to protecting her from greetings she's not ready for, wether 2/4legged.:)

I was wondering if Bogart had his first set or first and second set of shots? I know he's pretty young and would be slightly concerned for his little immune system to have time to get built up. But what a wonderful chance for him to socialize! Sounds like you guys are working so hard! Brando and Bogart are lucky to have you! I hope you're having a blast!

I know you're worried about walking Challenge miles, but with their ages I don't see why you couldn't use all this class, puppy bakery and bus stop, etc walking for your miles. Some of the others are counting agility and such in their miles, so if you want to turn in an estimate for all this hard work you're doing, I think that would be great!

It's a beautiful blog! Can't wait to read more of your adventures!
